AVT Natural bags " SME of the year " Award (Business Line, Kochi, 16 th MAY 2006 )
AVT Natural products Ltd (AVT NPL) has won the SME of the year Emerging India award in FMCG, Food and Agri – Business category. The award was presented to the company at a function held in Mumbai.
AVT NPL won the award in the fiercely competitive “FMCG, food and agri – business category because of the significant value creation for all the stakeholders of the company - customers, employees, farmers as suppliers of raw material, society at large, and shareholders.
The company posted a sales turnover of Rs 72 crore with a PAT of Rs 7.5 crore, the success of the company is attributable to the strategic alliance it has forged with world – class companies with global presence and access to unique technologies.
The “ contract farming” model for growing marigold flowers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh , Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh with the objective of improving the net farm returns and controlling the quality at source was another critical success factor of the company

At present, China accounts for 50 per cent share of the world marigold market of an estimated $50 million, while India holds 25 to 30 per cent and the balance by Peru. AVT NPL is the leader in the country with 70 per cent of the market share.
AVT Natural Products Ltd (AVTNPL), as part of its global expansion programme would invest $2-3 million in its project in the Chinese province of Heliangjiang, besides taking over the management of a US subsidiary company in Thailand.100 per cent holdings in its Chinese subsidiary, Tonghe AVT Natural Limited, is held by the parent company and the investments have gone through its wholly owned subsidiary, AVT Natural Pvt Ltd, Singapore.
As part of the first phase, the company has already taken up Marigold cultivation and sown marigold in 2,000 acres and the area is to be further extended to 10,000 acres in the coming five years. Harvesting, processing and extraction of oleoresin would take place in October this year.
AVT Natural in Thailand ( Business Line, Kochi, 25th June 2006 )
The company has a strategic alliance with Kemin Foods L.C, USA, which has the patent for Lutein extracted from marigold for using in neutraceuticals. The market for this product is growing at 20 per cent a year and AVT is the sole supplier of the raw material to the US Company.
AVT Natural's acceptance as a leader in marigold production culminated in its US alliance partner handing over the management of the latter's Thailand subsidiary, Siagra Company Ltd. early this month
Under the agreement for a period of three years on a profit sharing basis , AVT Natural would process marigold pellets produced in Thailand at it extraction plant located in cochin.
